WinAMP 3 Error

I have been very consistently getting an error from WinAMP 3 regarding an "Assertation Failure"

This continues happening regardless of how many times I redownload and or reinstall WinAMP 3... I am using an Audigy 1 Platinum and the kX drivers, and the kX drivers are totally at default. This only began happening a few days after I installed the kX drivers, though I don't think it's related... I think it's something separate from a driver error, given the text of the error message. Any ideas, suggestions, comments?

Reinstalling Winamp and rebooting sometimes lets me use Winamp for maybe one boot worth of time, but it takes like 5 tries and more often than not I get errors... And I would very strongly prefer to avoid WMP, given that it takes forever for it to initialize it's Playlists whenever I load another batch of 3000+ songs into it...

Also, if you can't see the picture, it's because you looked too early - it will be uploaded about 5 minutes after I post.

I just checked around the WinAMP forums and it looks like you are supposed to completely delete the Winamp folder since this is caused by a lack of error-checking for database errors... but I deleted my WinAMP folder already once, and it didn't help - I got one boot's worth of work out of Winamp before it gave the EXACT same error again...

Hey Tosh, try uninstalling... delete the folder... check the registry for anything that might have gotton left behind, and then reinstall. If it still doesnt work, just go to the 2.x version of Winamp.

Good luck!

Yes, I'm going to go back to WinAMP2 if no-one here knows what is going on and can help... I did clear the registry and delete the folder and uninstalling and everything though, but it only fixes things for the duration of one boot...

As I already said and you didn't agree: WINAMP IST DEATH.

Winamp 3 is very buggy. I've had many problems with it. A unistall and re-install always fixed them for me.

I use Musicmatch more anyway.

The 2.81 version works just fine. And it's the only this version, and not the "3" that will work with MilkDrop 1.03. Trippy!

WinAMP ist Death, eh? Well, then, give me the name of one other fast, efficient, and high quality mp3 player that I could move to that ISN'T Musicmatch (since I hated the bulky GUI), ISN'T WMP (since it is rather inefficient and slow), and ISN'T Ogg Vorbis (since I don't have any .ogg's, and don't care to convert 5000+ mp3's to .ogg...)... I'd really be interested in anything of the sort, skinnable would be preferable
