Hi there and Welcome to Driver Heaven!
I would get that X550... it has 128 bit memory bus ... but if you are going to play games you need at least 7800GT or X1600 Pro ....

But I only have enough to afford a second hand Gfx card for those 2 cards offered...
Which WOULD perform better in gaming sense?

hey there, welcome to DH .

to answer your question, of those two gfx cards, the x550 would a better job because of the 128bit memory bus like how temeteus82 stated. but also like he said, it would be best if you could get your hands on a 7600GT or an x1600pro. save up your money if you can't get either of the two better cards right now . it'll be worth it in the long run .

The 7300 gs was won in a contest... In another forum it was OCed and was running even better than the X550...
Here is the link i was given to see the specs to the 7300

was it OCed from factory, or did the person reviewing it OC it? did they provide any benchmark sheets or graphs to prove that the 7300's OC made it perform better than the x550? also, if it was OCed, did they OC the x550 by the same or similar percentage to the 7300? because if the 7300 was OCed, and the x550 was not, the x550 will still be a better card when you OC it.

that's not a very appropriate statement to make. if this is all he can get, this is all he can get. however, temeteus82 and myself have already suggested other methods of getting something better. but like i said, if something better cannot be had, then it cannot be had until later.

ok....but what about the benchmarks from the x550? that's only showing the scores of the one card. you need to have the same exact tests done on the same exact machine (except the video card of course) to tell you which of the two cards is better.

Hmm...You're right... i'll nudge the originator to benchmark the x550 too

Edit: So..what you're saying is x550 performs better in any way?

i'm not saying performs better in any way, i'm saying will outperform the 7300, because the 7300 has a 64bit memory bus.

and think of it like this, if you OC the 7300 by 20% and it'll outperform the x550, if you give the x550 that same 20% OC, it'll still out perform the 7300.

just some things to consider. but still try and get those benchmarks from whoever made that post in that other forum. once those are had, you should see what i mean. and if they are lower scores than the 7300 scores, ask why they are lower. factors like the card not being OCed is one. and also, the system has be the same one (or one identical to it, i.e. same CPU, same chipset MoBo, same amount of RAM are what is important) to the one tested w/the 7300.

Sent message to him..and this was his reply
Quote:
Would the 7300gs run faster compared to the X550 without OCing?
Quote:
Sorry for the late reply.
Yes it would run faster still. If you would please give me one day to upload the benchies for x550 as I am having trials for History tomorrow.
I'll show you the benchies tomorrow some time in the afternoon ya.
A x550 would score around 4k 3dmark03 usually and has no SM3.0 and HDR support.
I'll upload the benchies tomorrow. Stay tuned.

well, there you have it so far.....but you still want those benches to see exactly how much better. also, ask him to run the same tests at stock speeds, and then the same test on some half way decent OC. just to give you an idea of what the card runs like

ive got another vote for the save your money option.

the X800 line is rather quickly comeing down in price, and if you can hold of for awhile longer im sure you can pick one for next to nothing.
