suggestion dvd-drive
since my dvd-drive is broken due to starforce, i want to replace it. But i have no idea what i need to look for in a drive. I want to be able to burn the things fast, and just a good working overall thing. But nothing too fancy or the latest thing in technology...
anyone has ideas? I saw the NEC ND-3550 CD / DVD Rewrite Speed: 32x (CD) / 6x (DVD-RW) / 8x (DVD+RW) Write Speed: 48x (CD) / 16x (DVD±R) / 6x (DVD-R DL) / 8x (DVD+R DL) Enclosure Type: Internal Device Type: DVD±RW (±R DL) drive Read Speed: 48x (CD) / 16x (DVD) Dimensions (WxDxH): 14.8 cm x 19 cm x 4.2 cm Weight: 0.9 kg Enclosure Colour: Black Optical Storage: DVD±RW (±R DL) - 5.25" x 1/2H Interface: IDE is this any good?

Looks good but the LG drives these days can be had really cheap and I like mine. Just a warning for LG drives though: Avoid Memosux media at ALL COSTS

Lite-On or NEC are good inexpensive drives - check 'retail' vs. 'OEM' in for the software bundle (which is generally tied to just that drive) if you need burning and/or DVD Playback software - the NEC's lately haven't come with any in the OEM version.
