Thumbs Up! FX update/overview/fun bashing nVidia's woes thread

Just thought I'd open up a thread to see what everyone feelings/impressions on nVidia's fiasco is now that it looks like the end is in sight. (BestBuy is shipping FX Ultra's soon....for real this time. )

I still think we're gonna all look back on it as a major event in the viddy card industry and the moment that ATI pulled ahead of nVidia, but I really am interested in seeing what everyone else thinks too.

So post your thoughts or opinions on any aspect of the weirdness that was the 8 month delayed premiere of the FX.

well I sincerely hope it sells ok and nvidia can keep competing, its better for us all if we have competition.

although i can safely say I wont be buying any nvidia card atm. ATI are just so much ahead with both price to power and quality.

I think that nvidia just set on their butts being comfortable thinking that about how they were numder 1. They didnt really put that much effort into their upcoming FX cards. Kinda hard to stay king of the hill if you dont keep on trying. That got caught with their pants down when Ati came out with the 9000 series cards. So just trying to save a little face(although it hurt them more) they released that crappy Fx card. The more hype they put out , the deeper they dug themselves in the hole. I now hope Ati keeps on pressing which i really do believe they will.

haha

Welll I think the biggest factor in the "flop" was the actual delay of the product. (Very close second would be the dustbuster )

Just think if the FX was released 8 months ago, and with no dustbuster. It would be a big improvement over the GF4, and I think people would probably say it's the next card to buy. Then the 9700pro would come, and people would say Wow we have 2 great choices; maybe 9700pro being a bit better overall, more would buy that, but I think a lot of Nvidia users would go with brand loyalty.

But since it was so delayed, I think people were really expecting the FX to be markedly better than the 9700pro, and that it wasn't, was the root of the disappointment, with the dustbuster acting as a catalyst for scorn and ridicule. As I see it, the FX is really as fast as it should be, if you go by the progression from gf2, gf3, gf4, but it was just too late to market. Of course the cooling should have been dealt with much more elegantly, too.

Just my opinion.

EDIT: man, 2 replies while I typed that maybe I should learn to type with more fingers

I agree with Vampyromaniac I think the card woud have had a greater impact on the gaming community if it had been released on time. Also they could have worked on the cooling system a little bit more. I would have bought one if it would have been released on time. We need Nvidia to pull through so their is competion to keep the market improving for the end user.

I agree with Vampy as well. They've waited far to long
On a completely different note, Doom 3 has as well

Let's hope they both come up with a good release.
Monopoly's are not something I'm a fan off (Unless its the Game LOL)

And as you all know by now:
"I HATE MR. BURNS"

Actually Vampy although I am an NVIDIA card owner.

DID I not suggest ATI 8500 or 9700PRO to you??

You get more within your price range.
Something ELSE NVIDIA needs to smarten up on.
Is there price points for their products

Just my Humble opinion
