2.5 Watts (5v/500mA) won't go very far.

Wait for the overclockers model, powered from the 5v or 12v on a spare power connector!

Didn't somebody build a complete coffee maker into a PC once?

Yes, but a while ago someone posted something here that had a coffee pot warmer built into the top of the tower. It's was featured by MaximumPC. And it was real.
