New Computer
Hello all, I am new here, and my name is Brian. I live in Chicago, IL, and have recently selected parts for my new gaming computer..but one question I have is...Is it compatible with each other? Is it good? I won't be upgrading for a while, maybe another gfx, but thats all for now.. here are my specs that I have picked out for the system:
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136168 Processor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115003 GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131023 Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112099 Sound Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102188 Memory: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227124 Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145082 (2 of them) CD\DVD Rom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827131031 CD\DVD Rom 2)http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827131014 PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817159006 Keyboard and Mouse: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16823109144 Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824001081 Speakers: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16836116179 Liquid Cooling: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...597392&CatId=0 I want the most performance out of this, and to be able to play games as smoothly as possible...my rig now sucks, i have loads of frame drops, and cannot have a a good gameplay experience. So all the help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Oh and btw, I still have to order this stuff, and might be getting it in christmas. There might be more deals and all out later, but for now I want to see whats best out there. And that configuration was about $2255.66 USD. So if anyone would like to change something on that, make sure its still around the price range, or lower.. not higher than $2,300. Thank you again. -Brian |

Firstly welcome to Driver Heaven !
I didnt click on every link but a conroe, 2 gig of OCZ ram, X1950XT and DFI motherboard is a good system. Obviously by christmas you will get a better deal on some of it as well. What games are you enjoying? |

. So it is a good system, well to tell you the truth, this was the first time I did pick out a system myself. So I wasn't sure if it was good or not, so I asked. For the games, as of right now, I am playing CSS, F.E.A.R., and some of Halfe-Life 2. I can't get the most performance out of it, because right now, my system contains an amd 3000+ overclocked to 2.26 ghz, a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT 256 mb, 512 mb of ram, and the rest is pretty much okay..but the system overall has good performance even to run FEAR, on lowest settings, and at 640 by 480 resolution, but if I go higher than that, it gives me HUGE frame drops..so that's why Im planning to buy a new system. All games I play have to be played at 640 by 480 to be able to have a good gameplay..but the quality is horrible! Anyways, see you around Zardon!-Brian |

i didn't click on every links either... like Zardon said earlier... i also think, the CPU (C2D E6600) and the GPU are both very good choice.
and i also like to suggest that you reconsider for the Hard Drive, PSU and Case... for hard drive, get something that have more storage capacity than that... PSU, it'll be better for you to get one that has more wattage... as for the computer case, since you're going for a Liquid Cooling... get a taller case so you can fit more things in to it more easier. |

Welcome Darastyx, that is a nice system. I would definetly look for some more storage, I suggest the Western Digital or Seagate drives with 16mb cache, 250-320GB. They are unbelievably cheap now and are both great drives (I have the WD SE16, and I love it).

im new here too. i bought this gateway last feburary and decided i wanted a new graphics card. so purchased the x850 pro agp. after installing i was having major problems with crashing and the screen just freezes to a blank state. must have done every simple thing from down loading all updated drivers and even upgraded my bios. i read one place that if there's and overheat problem that i should open up the side panel and place a floor fan next to it. well what do you know. turns out i had an overheat problem. had to be because there was like no breathing room for anything really. you ever get that where you feel you tried everything and you just cant deal with it anymore. im getting ready for Neverwinter 2 to come out and now knowing what my problems i had, im workin on my pc now.

this is what i currently have:
Gateway - scrapped that piece of crap and just using the motherboard, its a Athlon 64 3400 ATI Radeon x850 agp pro- this card can be flashed to get 16 pipes, but im not sure its worth it. Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS - Everyones standard. Antec 500 SmartPower 2.0 - nice easy cable installing, reduces system clutter. Cool Master Stacker 830 - amazing unit, ill be able to install everything ill need for good looks (nice and clean setup), air flow, and liquid cooling. Big Water 745 - not too sure if this pump will be able to handle my loop. also scapping the single internal/external radiator. VGA Water Block - i figured if i ever flash my x850 card to open up 4 additional pipelines that this would come in handy. ill show ya what im going to be working with. should be here by either monday or tuesday, hopefully. Aqua Bay M1 - lets me know the level of liquid in the system and theres also an indicator for water flow. Aqua Bay M2 - this will replace my internal/external radiator from the Big Water 745, also frees up an ugly looking fan mount. Aqua Bay M3 - ive read its best to have your tank above the pump for bleeding purposes. should help in looping everything together. HardCano 12S - lets me know if my pump is failing or something is about to explode! Two Lazer LED Cannon Blue - threw these in for looks Cyclo RAM Cooler - looks cool and could be handy for OCing. So far i havent had any problems installing the motherboard, power unit, or cards. ive noticed that the stacker has amazing amount of room to do just about anything. now if i can just figure out where all these plugs go :banghead: does anyone kmow if ill be able to carry out my loop with all these components. im scrapping the single internal/external radiator for the M2 to give it that clean look. i figured i can just hook up the double external radiators anyways. i was planning on using the 3/8" tubing but im not even sure if the pump will handle all this. can anyone help me out before i make a swimming pool out of my computer, lol. I definitely agree that you should get a bigger harddrive and perhaps a taller case if you're going to put a liquid cooling. As for HD, WD, seagate, and hitachi are definitely good. As for casing, you may want to consider other taller lian-li cases or coolermaster stacker 830 or even antec p180. I aslo suggests to get a higher PSU (around 600 + W), such as coolermaster igreen 600W (was reviewed here), ocz, or enermax liberty 620W. The reason is that newer gfx cards are very power hungry (especially xfire setup), so it's better be prepared now then later. |
