I've been waiting to get a BFG Nvidia 7900 gtx OC but I've been trying to hold out until newegg had a price under $400. For the past couple of weeks they have been out of stock.
They have had an Evga 7900gtx listed on sale for $378 which includes a mail in rebate, but that sale runs out today. I've been running Oblivion with my sad little video card for the past couple of months and just puttin gup with it. I've got Titan Quest sitting on my desk waiting to be installed, and 10/31 NWN2 comes out and I want to be able to jump right in on that. Do I continue to wait on the BFG OC or do I just go ahead & order the Evga card. What do I do!!!

My opinion, eVGA cards are a good quality product. I know a few people with them, and everyone says they are good. That is a good price, and they often have a decent bundle. I would get the eVGA card, clock it to KO speeds, and spend the rest of the money on beer.

I've never done any OC work so I'm a bit hesitant to start trying that with an almost $400 card. But I will admit that some of the OC stuff I've read here seems pretty easy - just pencil in a connection or two & it's done. Hard to go wrong with that....
What's KO mean? |

The BFG's are supposed to come at about 20mhz faster than the non OC cards. Nothing huge but DH review really liked it and since I've never done any kind of OC stuff this would be the fastest I could get without doing any kind of modding.
Thanks for the move, between involving newegg, a video card, and potentiall OC'ing I wasn't sure where to put the thread so I figured the off topic forum would be the fastest way to get a response.

There won't be a lot of difference in performance. And if you do choose to oc, the 7900's do well, and there is really no danger to doing it if you're careful. evga's are great cards, I'd recommend going that route. Also as a flip, sapphire x1900xt 256mb and 512mb cards just went on sale huge.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...&Go.x=0&Go.y=0 >>>249 for the 256mb version, 319 for the 512mb.

KO speeds are just a few mhz's fast than stock, nothuing special, probably won't notice a difference. |
