I currently have 4-256 PC1066 NON-ECC RDRAM Memory in my computer for 1GB.
I wanted to max it out to 2GB, which my board supports (ASUS P4T533-C) but I'm confused. I've read that with PC1066 memory on this board, I can only max out to 1.5GB. Is this true? How would I get to 2GB then? Would I have to mix 1GB PC800 with 1GB PC1066? Is that even possible? Please help!

It is true that the max is 1.5GB, I have the same issue. You have four banks and have to match the each bank rimms (bank 0 rimm1 and rimm2, bank 1 rimm3 and rimm4) properly, to run and be dual channel.....i.e. .Memory has to be installed in matched pairs............Bank 0 must be filled first. Bank 0 and 1 do not have to match density or size..........just that rimms within each bank must match......... Non ECC and ECC can be mixed, just becomes non ecc............. I do not believe you would see a big difference with the extra 500..........BTW RDRAM1066 512 is expensive RE mixing PC800 with 1066 do not think it will work, believe banks must match the 1066 I am not very technical so I may be incorrect........

Good luck finding RDRAM at any reasonable price
![]() You may consider changing mobos at this stage in the game... that to me is the best option |
