Dell 2007 FWP or Dell 2407 FWP monitor?

I'll be buying a new monitor soon to replace my aging 17 inch acer.
And i want it to be a good one.I heard good and bad things about dell and i found these 2 widescreen models locally(rare indeed).
Dell 2007 FWP-Goes for $600(after conversion from local currency)
Dell 2407 FWP-Goes for $880(")
I know its overpriced but i reallyu don't have much of a choice.
Which would be the better deal?And will i be able run games with decent IQ and at playable FPS at 1920x1200 with a single x1900 xt?(if i can't then there's no point in spending all that cash is there?)
Please advice.

Are all the banding issues with the 2407 FWP over?

If you are getting them direct from Dell, keep an eye out for deals. They often have major discounts on their screens but dont offer any type of price match garuntee as I found out when I grabbed the 2004FPW. Before i received mine they dropped the price by $120 and they would not give me the lower price

for 1900x1200 you would need the 2407FPW as the 2007FPW only has a resolution of 1680x1050. Yes a single X1900XT will drive the display at the resolutions you are looking for

The 2007 seems to be a great deal.But if the 2407 offers its money's worth then i won't hesitate.

Yes you will, I can game on my 22" CRT with 2048x1536 with AA and AF enabled, so if it were my choice I would get the 2407

thnx for the reply.I know the 2407 FWP is awesome.But would i be better off getting a 2007FWP and upgrading the rest of my rig or getting a 2407 FWP and retaining my pentium d rig.And how much more desktop real-estate do i get at 1920x1200 compared to 1680x1050?

always nicer to have the bigger sucker..

BTW, if you buy direct from dell,

do this:

Bargain with them.... over a much lower price.. and then refuse to get off the phone until they at least try to match it in some way or form.

Also see if you can find other prices on the net for that model, and offer a much lower price..

you may be able to nock off a hundred or better bucks easily

and i've received a call 2 hours later with another 100 bucks knocked off the 3007fpw

(still didn't go for it though)

I just wanna know whether i'd be able to get playable frame rate in games such as Oblivion,AOE3,FEAR and QUAKE4 at 1920x1200 with IQ turned up on single x1900 xt at stock speeds?(by IQ i mean 16xHQ AF,really high ingame settings and atleast @2xQA AA)
If not i'll just get the 2007FWP.And are the colour banding issues with the 2407 FWP over?

Youd get resonably decent frame rates. 2x AA is probably more then enough..

and as far as i can tell, the latest revisions of the 2407fpw are gone.
