More more more GBs

I have almost 1 TB of hard disk space (990 GBs) and it is for a long time now full. In fact I am burning DVDs to free some room but still I don't like it since it means more physical space and less easy to access anything I want at any time. So I am looking for your help suggestions to find something cheap, reliable (that will last 2-3 years without breaking down) and easilly accessible. Speed is not that important since I am going to store mainly videos and music and not edit them there, just store and play. Internal HDs are not considered due to lack of space in the box, so I am leaning towards external solutions. I am thinking about something at least 500GBs. One idea I had was to get 1 or 2 3.5" drives and get some usb enclosures for them. Sooo, I am open to ideas

Oh, and if you happen to provide a link to a site, if you know, please let me know if they send to Greece/EU or not, cause many do not.

LordofDoom is on a distinguished road

There's a Maxtor 1TB external firewire drive on OCUK for 400 euro (or is it pounds? I think it's pounds.)

.....you're actually using all 990GB?

Wow, I have new respect for you!

You may as well get a bigger case for more HDD's but if space isn't a concern you might look at eSata enclosures that support RAID with 1 SATA cable, I think LaCie makes something like that as big as 2.5TB (I can find a link later)

I am using all 990 and about 50 4.5gbs dvd and 8 8.5gbs. Not counting all the cds.

Isn't getting an eclosure that supports raid etc a bit of a waste? USB2.0 I think is good enough. ??

There are some big disks out there, but the cost is prohibitive for me for now. I am trying to get something up to 500 just for the cost. I found a WD 250GBs disk for 46GBPm so two of them plus enclosures wouldn't be too expensive. Hmm.

holy crap, I only have 120gb of space, and I'm hard-pressed to ever use more than 100 of it.

Well the RAID enclosures wouldn't be a waste because they'd function quite fast and it looks like 1 big drive so that makes storage easier.

The other thing you could do is replace your storage mediums now, i.e. buy new hard drives to replace the old ones.

You're an ideal candidate for Seagates 750GB drives

That is tempting, 2 3.5 750GB drives...and get usb enclosures for my current drives..mmm, damn it, I wish i could afford that now.

Well, that's the most cost effective option for you because running alot of smaller drives will run your power bill up
