Geforce 6200 PCI Express installation troubles
I have just built a PC and everything seems to be running fine except my video card. I cannot seem to install the drivers for it without causing the computer to stop working.
Here's what happens: I downloaded the lastest drivers from Nvidia's website. I run the setup and the computer says the drivers are installed and tells me I have to restart in order for the drivers to work. I restart the computer. It gets to the windows start up screen (has these white lines running through the screen) and then the monitor goes black. The CPU fan is still running but the monitor power light has gone to orange instead of green, which is what it does when the computer is off. When I restart the computer, it says that windows failed to start and asks if I want to start in safe mode, start normally, or start with the last configuration that worked. Safe mode doesn't work, starting normally just causing the screen to either freeze or the same thing to happen. If I start with the last configuration, windows will start but the video card drivers will not be installed. When I go into device manager, there is a little yellow exclaimation point next to display adaptors that reads "Video Controller (VGA compatible)". If I click on properties it says "The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)". If you guys have any idea about how to fix things, any help would be much appreciated. Please let me know if you need more information. This is the computer: Processor: Intel Pentium D 840 3.20GHz DT 800FSB Socket 775 Motherboard: Intel Desktop Board D945PWM BIOS Version: SN94510J.86A.0096.2006.0822.1131 (This is the latest version available) RAM: 1024 MB (533 MHz, 1.88ns) PC4200 DDR2 Video Card: Geforce 6200 LE PCI Express (128mb) Hard Drive: Seagate 250GB EIDE HD 7200/8MB/ATA-100 Power Supply: 580 |

Have you used driver cleaner when reinstalling the drivers? It may prove to be useful
