Nope. That's not it, and I made sure when i was asking to buy a new mobo, that i wouldn't get shortchanged when it came to upgrades. Mine is this: http://www.msi.com.tw/program/produc...ODEL=MS-6380E. It can support up to the 2700+, but im not sure about the barton...

rev.b means it's a t-bred-b core.. get a 2200+.. it's a t-bred a core.. but the only differnce is the voltage... b's go 0.25 lower... i have a 2200+ at 2ghz.. it hits 2.2ghz but my board doesn't boot at that fsb

If you hit the "CPU support" link at the side of the motherboard page, it DOES support the Bartons

http://www.macena.com/intelamdcyrixc...ssorcpus.shtml
Here, the 2500+ Barton is priced between the 2400+ and 2600+ T-bred

One other thing to note - with a 333 CPU, you DO want to be running 333 RAM (PC2700) - not sure that there's any advantage in DDR400, as it's out of step, and the timings are usually softer.

http://www.pcdirectsource.com/parts.cfm?Cat=39&ad=AMD

It seems the 2500+ Barton is priced below the 2600+ T-Bred - and with the extra cache, may run it close or more likely outperform it

Its one of the cores of the Athlon XP CPU's. If I'm not mistaking, there are three.

Palomino 1500+-2100+ (266FSB, 256 cache, 0,18 µm)
Thoroughbred 1700+-2800+ (266/333FSB, 256 cache, 0,13 µm)
Barton 2500+-3000+ (333FSB, 512 cache, 0,13 µm)

There are different steppings and revisions too, but I don't know 'em all.
