How would I go about networking all these?

ok, I have a 4 port router with all ports currently filled by 2 PC's, a PS2 and an Xbox. My question is,what would be the most hassle free way to add one more console now, but also have another port or two free for later on use. Should I go with a switch or a hub? Or better yet an 8 port router, but I think those are way too expensive for me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thx

Thumbs Up!

If you've got a space network card floating around then you could get a piece of cross-over cat5 cable and link the 2 PC's into each other. Then jack the PC with the 2nd NIC into your router.

You'ed have to play around with the TCP/IP settings on the PC's - but it can work!

Thx for the reply
That could work, but I was hoping I could keep things simple and just add afew more ports. I that possible by adding a hub or switch to one of the ports on the router?

yes, I think you can add a switch (better than a hub) to the uplink port (if you have one) using a regular straight-thru cable,
or to a standard port, using a crossover cable

If every network speed is constant (say 100Mbs) then the hub would be cheaper. But if there is a variance in speed (some 10Mbs some 100Mbs or different) then you need a switch.

Sorry if I misunderstood your post - I thought you said that switches and/or hubs were too expensive for you.

Awesome, thx guys. So if I grab a switch I can just hook it up to the empty port on the router, like say port 4? Will this give me any probs, or will it hopefully just be a plug n' play situation? I want to keep everything running at 100Mbps.
Thx alot for the help
