I got to see one in action.. and actually got to demo it myself in my own computer for about 2 days.

And loaded up not only a few demos, but tried it out in a few games. (demos)..

conclusion was .... not worth it at all.



Well at least for the time being..

I tried out a Unreal 3 Engine enabled game available through steam, that roboblitz game. The difference between disabled and enable physx, actually produced a lower FPS with minimal graphics improvement.

I personally think that the ATI Physics solution may be more practical. i mean if i can buy a x1600 and slap it in and get a boost... and expect better FPS yet.... why not?

And if you have Crossfireyou may get it free anyway

Well maybe..... imo.. i think someone would benifit from a 3 card crossfire mode rather then a 2 card +1 physics card crossfire mode.

The sad fact that you actually loose a lot FPS in games with PhysX enabled, shows how big a hype and flop it is.

Well you naturally would expect that because all the PhysX card does is add about 500% more particles to explosions which means the card now has to draw that many more particles

not really..

the offloaded physics caculations isn't saposed to actually decrease the FPS because of the video card, it doesn't make sense that while running 1600x1200, the a physiced disabled machine is pushing 60fps while the same machine is only able to sustain 30fps @ 1024x768 with little increase in extra garbage flying...

I mean i've seen more physics entensive tasks in counter strike source with 1000 Gernades flying around then the physix enabled games.

Well thats likely the result of poor and immature drivers which plague everyone from time to time, but even still PhysX is just a poorly executed concept IMO, same with that KillerNIC.

Well imo, it has promise, don't think i think otherwise.

The fact of the manner though is that ATM, with lack of game support (which we can expect to increase).... and sheer massive drop in performance
