I will continue to use AMD chips, since AMD has so far said that it will not implement any technology in its hardware that will restrict it's user's usage. This sort of thing is directly anti-open-source, since the validation source for any Palladium-style authentication needs to be closed by definition, otherwise anything at all can validate... and thus defeating the purpose of TCPA tech

Well, at risk of being called alarmist, BUY NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! They'll lose too many sales if everyone starts putting in Palladium controls ala TCPA, and even if they still go ahead with it, there will be a way around it, even if it means simply not using any Palladium-enabled programs

The best possible thing you could do in this case is to just NOT buy any PC products that contain that garbage. If it doesn't sell, they'll have to abandon the idea.

i strongly doubt that this will be in every piece of software/hardware. I'm sure there are companies out there that will refuse to use this in their products. If not in the USA, then in Taiwan and Hong Kong!

this is very old news.... it was belived the hardware industry would never ever let it pass ... becouse it aslo specifacly bans users from Upgradeing thier systems... there for all the compmanies selling hardware only customers would be system builders like hp or compaq etc... ant not sold to the public.
