Pissed My printer keeps chewing up paper!

Sorry I'm sure you all looked at the thread title and just groaned, but I'm an absolute novice with printers, they hate me, and I hate them.

I just set up my old printer trying to get it work, cause the last time I used it the black ink wouldn't work properly and I wanted to see if it needed a new ribbon.

So anyway I get it loaded up and install the drivers etc, then when I press the load paper button the right hand side goes through then chews up, the left hand side of the page doesn't even move though (ie it doesn't come through even slightly). its the same when I try print.

i downloaded a user guide but frankly it was baffling and I couldn't see anything of relevance.

Any ideas as to why its doing this?

thanks in advance as always!

good thinking, sorry about that!

Its an Epson Stylus C80 Inkject printer.

I'm wondering if the little rollers that are supposed to pull through the paper aren't working on one side, and as such the other side just gets chewed up. But I have no ide how that could happen or how to fix it!

It just so happens that someone gave me an Epson Inkjet 880 not long ago. But, I haven't bothered to hook it up to see if it even works. Would the C80 and 880 be similar at all?

What comes to mind is that it may be possible that ink has leaked onto the rollers on that side and is causing the rollers to stick. You might take some cotton swabs and dampen them to see if you can clean those rollers.....or even move them to see if they rotate at all.

If the C80 and 880 are similar, I can hook this one up to a computer here and see if it even works. I've just not had any incentive to do so because I have plenty of working printers already.

cheers for the replies, no idea whether they're similar but swabbing the buds might be an idea. I remember looking at the rollers and they were spinning, it was as if that side of it wasn't pushing the paper in, so it might not be the rollers per se but the section thats supposed to move the paper towards them, or something!

I'll swab em and give it another shot tonight!
