New Monitor

Hi,
Im still using a 17" CRT Monitor, and while its chunky, its able to run games and photoshop with ease. However i want something bigger, something around 20".
I would like something which has no gradient banding. I do alot of photoshop/3dsmax work and id prefer a 20ms response time with better quality than 2ms response time and naff quality. Im looking to spend upto £300.
Any advice? I want something with bigger resolution than 1280x1024, pref widescreen.

yeah but cheap = junk.

I had a look at the dell but their £400 and the e207wfp is terrible. Been looking at the Samsung 225BW, the only thing that seems to be an issue with these is backlight bleeding, which isnt a problem, as i mainly do photoshop work, and i very rarely play dark games.

For that kind of use wouldn't a high end CRT be the best? Should be a good one used for cheap. Something with .22 or .24 DPI, I just ordered one of these http://www.docs.sony.com/release/spe...G520P_mksp.pdf because I am unhappy with the quality of an LCD for gaming. It cost $251.22 Canadian delivered. Only issue is lack of widescreen though.

My Syncmaster 900IFT 19" CRT (0.20 dot pitch with a max resolution of 2048x1536 @ 62hz) is sitting at a value of $400. The extra high quality NON refurbished crts aren't dirt cheap yet.

I heard alot of great thing about the Acer AL2223Wd I told u to take a look at. The contrast ratio is 800:1, which is not bad for 22" Lcd. It has a 5ms respond time, which is great for gaming and all-around use for a computer. The price is 340$USD (on newegg).

I actually can't even find any decent new CRT's here at all. That is why I opted for that used 22" Sony/Artisan for $251.00 Cdn. The .22 or .24 dot pitch was meant in regards to a 22" monitor.

Drakon has a 1100DF Syncmaster CRT (21") for sale in the buy sell forum, take a gander there if you want a damn good crt. (0.20 dot pitch 2048x1536 @ 83hz) he's been gradually dropping the price but i don't think he should go much lower. That monitor is utterly beautiful.

I dont have the space for a huge CRT. Also weight is an issue. My 17" barely fits on here as it is. Also it has to be Widescreen. It wasnt an issue untill i got my VAIO laptop which is widescreen, and its just sooo much easier to work in max and photoshop with. If the monitor looks like this screen on my laptop id be chuffed, its absolutely brilliant. I cant see any visable gradient banding or screen door effect at all.

The Gateway LCD monitors look real good - especially the 21" model with a PVA LCD by Samsung (214T equivalent...) - its got a plethora of inputs too.
