BFG Power Supplies
Are they good? I can't find any reviews and I was planning to buy the 1000w model.

![]() From word of mouth I've heard BFG power supplies are OK. Have you considered the Enermax Galaxy 1000W unit though? I've read and heard many many good things about those, including the fact that they're under rated for wattage and they're really solidly built units. Plus, Enermax has been building PSU's for way way WAY longer than most companies so you'd get added peace of mind

yup, i know about the enermax galaxy 1000w psu but I'm not looking forward to buying an enermax psu right now 'cause I'm still a little pissed off with my enermax liberty 620w psu that can't handle my 8800 gtx. there's a mssg from the driver that always pops up on startup that says something like, "the graphics card is not being provided with sufficient power" so it had to lower the performance of the card.
actually, i have similar posts on the nv driver section about this problem. i want a new psu now and the BFG 1000w model is the only one available here locally with this wattage. thanks.

Well how can you expect a 600W PSU to cope with a high end system especially an 8800GTX?
![]() Looking at some Google results they don't look like bad PSU's and apparantly BFG has good customer support and warranty so if anything goes wrong it should be easily remidied. I say go for it

I just saw the new Silverstone Olympia 1000W PSU and I felt like holding back on my purchase. there seems to be a new 8-pin PCI-E connector which is rumored to be used on R600.
I also found this thread at xtremesystems.org which classifies BFG power supplies to tier4 manufacturers. Now, I think I'll forget about the BFG power supply and just wait for a while 'till the Silverstone 1000W became available. |

![]() I saw one in action at some store locally doing a demo.... MAN is that thing powerful. Heavy as hell too! (Heft is a good indicator of general build quality of PSU's) |
