wireless network..linksys help!!
ok i have a very simple wireless network that i want to create. but i have a nice big problem! well first off my router is a LINKSY'S WRT54G broadband router!
now i followed the instructions to the letter. even the steps that seemed irrelavent, i followed them very carefully. but i have run into a problem. i connected my router to the CABLE MODEM (IT Is a rogers modem, by motorolla) via the WAN port. i then have a blue network cable connected to PC #1 and i have a wireless adapter in PC #2. i ran the cd the router came with..it picks everything up. then if i shut my pc down, pc 2 cannot run on the internet! the main solution i am looking at now is disabling firewall on both pcs, then setting up again and see what happens. PC 1 doesnt have a wireless adapter in it. pc 2 does. any ideas on this? i checked linksys but Driverheaven.net is kick ass when it comes to help, information and interesting ideas! thanks in advanced! oh and should i run the cd on PC2 or just the one with the modem attached to it? also, even though my pc is off- pc 2 says that its connection with the router is strong...ugh this is very frustrating..should i just switch to wired? also i read i should have my router far from my pc 1 away from speakers and somewhere high up! anyways thanks game on! |

The firewall has nothing to do with this, as well as speakers/etc. You have just set the network to provide access only to PC1 and the rest of the computers to share the internet connection of PC1 only. So when it's off, the internet connection is off.
Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the settings/interface of your equipment, but you should set the network to provide direct connections for every PC through the hub and not bridged connections only. |
