Yeah the one I have now I got for 40 bucks after 2 mail in rebates.. That is a 160GB WD IDE 7k 8mb.. So I'll have 660GB for under 200 dollars. I've had the 160GB for a long time too. My old 40GB died over the summer.

10 years ago that was the cost per Megabyte. a 1.6 GB drive was $300
5 years ago a 100 GB drive was $260 or $3.00/GB
2 years ago a 250 GB drive was $250 or $1/GB

bout a month ago i picked up my 400gig seagate for 86 or so.

just read the artlice posted above me. doing the math on this one, i paid 21.5cents per gig when i bought the 400.

i can't even get a 400gb sata 2 8mb cache maxtor drive for that price (converted to CAD) from my supplier @ wholesale cost......

Hell raptor 150gb WD drive still costs 300 bucks.
