Monitor Advice
I am planning tomorrow to buy a new LCD monitor but i need advice.
I am looking at 19" widescreen monitors. Most say the max resolution is 1440x900 which is fine but will the monitor be able to display 1280x1024 (as i have many games which don't (as far as i know) support widescreen resoultions? Also if i play games at 1440x900 will the quality be any better\worse (as the quality of textures at 1024x768 is obviously worse than 1280x1024? Also i am still struggling to make my mind up on which one? My mind keeps changing desisions. Can you all reccommend a 19" widescreen (or not) monitor for £160(max)? BTW Planning to buy the monitor tomorrow so be quick please ?Cheers Cube623

First of all, even 1280x1024 is not 4:3. If you play at 1280x1024 everything is a bit squeezed from the sides. Kind of the opposite of playing in widescreen. A 1440x900 monitor does not support any resolution that has more than 900 pixels width. Meaning, you are screwed. I would say get a larger monitor that supports the so called 1080p.
Most of the games on the PC do not support widescreen natively or in a proper way. Meaning that they will play in a letterbox or stretched, which does not look good. www.widescreengamingforum.com is propably the best place to find out more. I would advice you to wait till you have more money to get a larger monitor that supports higher resolutions.

If you are not interested in using it to watch HD-DVD or Blu-Ray on it, it looks fine. I don't know 100% since I haven't read any reviews or anything.
