I have the MX Revolution, and really like it...and yes I have the 'bullshit software' installed. I have no problems with said software, and fail to see what's 'BS' about it. But, I guess if you think that it gives you a bigger 'epenis' to bitch about a particular company and/or their software...feel free.

I have also installed uberOptions which installs on top of setpoint, and really opens up the programming options for all the buttons. You can find it here (it's a freebie) http://www.mstarmetro.net/~rlowens/uberOptions/

Your choices:
Install setpoint and uberOptions and have a damned nice set of programming options.
Don't install Setpoint and have a bigger 'epenis' and a crippled mouse.

old buzzard,

i never install the software, the functionality of the mouse is just as useful without the software then with it, mind you additional programming features are available, they typically go completely unused, and end up wasting valueable resources and startup processing.

aka,

BS software in the terms hawg is talking i beleive.

I really love the "epenis" option! Thanks so much for giving me the choice! It's a true blessing!!!!!And I will put my "crippeled" mouse
in a wheelchair when not in use.I think it would be more comfortable like that...Dont U?Although I really feel quite guilty now for useing a handycapped mouse.I think I will put it back into the box and let it live the life of Riley.

Seriously tho, you might try installing Setpoint and uberOptions, and give them a try, and see if you like the combination. You can always uninstall them. Yeah, it will use a bit of system resourceses, but it's not like it's going cut your FPS is 1/2 or anything like that.

It would be interesting to see some benchmarking with various services/software installed vs uninstalled, just to see just how big the impact (if any) really is.

It makes everything about your PC better, especially how you interface with it... isn't that enough for you?

A nice mouse pad helps too.. for me anyway. Much nicer than just using the desk surface.

There are much nicer ones- but I got this for Christmas and I really like it.

Have Logitech's MX3100 desktop(wireless keyboard and mouse) and started with the large software suite - Setpoint? etc ...it never informed me when there were updates available and I never used all the programming options .. so I removed it with no negative effects.

Great keyboard and laser mouse. I agree wired is the way to go but my mouse and keyboard are far away from CPU so wireless works well.
