Question RE: Wireless Router Speeds and Internet Connection Speeds

HI

Feel somewhat dense having to ask but....

If I have a Wireless card and Router say, capanle or 54Mbps but an internet cable connection at 6, what is the point, or is there any benefit to getting a wireless router with higher speeds, or am I limited by my cable speed?

Hope this makes sence...but what is the pint of buying a wirelss router capable of 108Mbps if your internet provider has you set at 6?

Any clarity would be appreciated.

A router at 54 Mbps will have a faster network speed than your internet connection, allowing faster file transfers across your networked computers. Usually this will not be the full 54 Mbps, a good rule of thumb for wireless connections is to expect about half the speed of its rating.

The point is, if you have more computers in the WLAN they can transfer files faster. Same thing if you have normal 10/100 LAN with multiple computers.
