Logitech G5 Weight Lifting

I recently picked up a Logitech G5 mouse (the new all silver one) dirt dirt cheap, and was wondering about the weights. At the moment I have it about 1/2 the weight of my MX700 wireless mouse. Seriously, the mouse is so light as it is that all I did was drop weights into it until I actually knew I was holding the mouse.

Since I don't have much time these days to tinker around with the weights I'm looking to find out from other G5 owners what they have theirs set to, and the layout they have the weights within the cartridge. Currently I have 3 x 1.7g (2 on top, 1 center bottom), and 3 x 4.5g (2 on the bottom, 1 center top) weights installed. It's a bit back heavy, with the front a bit lighter which helps with pointer work.

Kind of a weird post, and it probably won't get much response, but I figured I wanted to get the most out of the new mouse, so, why not ask, right?

Thanks, guys.

I run mine with only two 1.7g's exactly in the middle. However, I do like it a little heavier but anything more gets painful during 10 hour WoW marathons

I don't have any weights in mine... I'm guessing you're not planning on doing that though.

Before I sold mine I had it loaded all the way up. Mainly because I'm so used to the "heftiness" of the cordless mice.

The more I use it, the more I'm starting to lean that way. I'm not the only one using the mouse, so I have to be careful how much weight I put in. The biggest "complaint" with the MX700 from my family is how heavy it is. As you said, you get used to it. Going to a lighter mouse is kind of.. weird though. I've almost pulled a muscle trying to NOT over do my mouse movment. And man, due to the G5s "slick as snot" mouse feet, it's even harder not to. 1/2 weight is ok, but it still floats around too much due to them. I think I'll rebalance the front end for a little more weight.

Edit: Oh hell ya. 4.5g in each corner, and a 1.7g in the top and bottom center. Not as heavy as the MX700, but not too light either. Plus it still moves around fast when I want it too thanks to the mouse feet.

Yep, I'm glad I bought this over the G3.

Mine when looking at the arrow telling you which way to insert the weight tray into the mouse I have.

4 1.7 grams at 2 per side (left - right) and a upside down Y shape of 4.5g gives really good control for me since i set my DPI to 400 - 800 - 1000 - 1500 - 2000

I use 1000 for general purpose and have the others as I see fit, excellent range of DPI settings as well.

I maxed out the weight and bought some Corepad feet for it. I personally think the stock pads are way to thin and slippery and would wear out fast on a textured surface like my glass pad. I highly recommend the Corepad feet and glass pads. Going on a year and hardly any wear on either the pad or feet with at least four hours of gaming a day on most every day. I had some tracking issues which ended up being the pad needed a good cleaning. Now that I cleaned it really well with Windex it works like new.

mine just has two 4.5g weights in the middle. i set the sensitivity of the mouse to max, and the mouse speed in windows is set to default. My only complaint about the effing thing, is that it doesn't have a foward button like my lx700 does.

now, when i use my other computer which is where my lx700 is at, i feel that thing is a like a brick it's so heavy. i have also needed to turn up the speed within windows to compensate for the loss in DPI in this mouse vs. the G5. Also, i can REALLY tell the is major lag issues in wireless mouse. I never used to notice it unless i wasn't using the mouse, but now i can really tell now that i've gone back to a wired mouse.

H3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enoughH3X4D3C1M4L will become famous soon enough

I have mine with all the heaviest weights.

Being a metal drummer I have very strong wrists so anything less feels too flimsy
