Logitech Setpoint 3.3.0

I know nobody likes how big these drivers have become. If we want to use the best mouse out there with all the functionality intended then we have to use them. I am pleased to say that this new set rocks if for only one extra function, and that is 1000Hz sample rate option of the mouse itself. I notice quite a bit of difference in accuracy from very large to the smallest movements. I did have to turn the acceleration down from medium to low.
I use the G5.

uberoptions is available for them too. It works flawlessly under XP, but for Vista you need to do a little workaround until Richard can fix it properly.

Have you changed the polling rate from 500 to a 1000 in the advanced gaming options?

The drivers readme states for xp and vista.

I have a Logitech Trackball - a Cordless Optical Trackball:

http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...CONTENTID=5006

and the setpoint doesn't even work with my device. Is it too "legacy" to work with that software? Or is it supposed to function with it?

Thanks

The compatibility list posted on the download page of majorgeeks doesn't list your mouse. I can't find a list in the driver folder yet. I am still looking.
That cordless trackman is a great mouse. If the ball was a little bigger it would be perfect, at least for me.

Thanks for looking - I appreciate it.

I like finger based trackballs best for graphics work (larger ball = more precise rotation / tracking without having to crank up acceleration) and still have two Trackman FX trackballs that I had to stop using when I upgraded to XP because the Universal Scroll didn't work properly, and the thing doesn't have a scroll wheel. So, I bought the Cordless Optical and liked it so much I have two more in the closet in their original boxes.

Only flaw for me really is that it's wireless instead of wired, but that's more of a preference than a necessity.

Anyway, thanks again.

I found the trackman xml and image layout setup folder in the driver package. There are so many in there that are not listed on the compatibility list on majorgeeks download page that I am wondering why they would be included in the package if it wasn't compatible.

I used the M$ trackball explorer for about four years and didn't think I would ever change. Now I couldn't live without 2000dpi. My fingers used to get really sore to after a few hours of gaming with the trackball. I can go all night now with the G5 and not feel it at all the next day.

I game a lot with my trackball. I guess I'm just used to it. I have a mouse on my other machine and that way kind of mix it up so I don't get sore wrists or what not.

I have some Kensington PilotMouse opticals - I own three of those too - one in use, 2 in the boxes. They are 800 dpi, which by comparison may not be a lot, but they are even more comfortable than Logitech mice (at least for my hand) and the buttons on the side are large and easy to click.

http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-721.../dp/B0000AFX1K

I'm glad we have so many good options.

One is for Vista only and the b165 build is for other Windows versions also. I am not sure of the actual driver differences because I do not have Vista. Most likely the b159 was more of a hotfix for all the issues that was happening with Vista recognizing certain USB devices.

In between the 1.2 firmware update and these b165 drivers that enable 1000Hz sample rate it is like moving from the old 310 to a G5 or G7. Accuracy at the end of either fast, slow, long, or short movements has improved enough to make a difference of win or lose. With 2000dpi and a semi fast pointer speed long range sniper or rifle shots before the firmware update and these drivers was a tossup. I thought that the hitbox detection in COD2 was just being inconsistent and now I realize it was because I had my speed and acceleration set to high. Now with the same setting as before I can make the same shot allot easier and more steady. Results are going to very from surface to surface depending on mouse feet and settings and users. I like this driver set and firmware update and as of now I do not believe there is a better mouse out there than the G5.
