Purpose of AMD Dual Core Processor Driver?

I was wondering about the purpose of the AMD Dual Core Processor Driver. I'm not certain what it's for. Can someone enlighten me please?

Thanks

It allows for some Cool & Quiet and thermal throttling stuff to work. Don't bother installing if you aren't using those features.

It actually helps more than that. Some games benefit greatly by the driver (NFSMW comes to mind). Some symptoms are out of sync audio and video and very unsteady fps. There are lots of threads around where the driver improved gameplay and in some cases was needed to even play a game. The Dual Core Fix improves upon the driver even more. I recommend everyone with an AMD X2 to install both.

From AMD, I don't see mention of any other change which would affect gaming performance in any way.

And for the optimizer.

Yea I've read those but I like to go from personal experience. The Dual Core fix was introduced months after the driver was released to improve upon it. Before that we only had the driver to help us out, which is it did very nicely. NFSMW is an easy test for anyone willing

dipstick is right, from my personal experience it helps far more than just what it is supposed to. Definetely install it.

ptsigas is on a distinguished road

ack! what is this bosmer??

i have the cool n q driver installed which does make a difference in gaming- but i have one simple problemo with the dual core optimizer installation.

it says the program was installed under anotehr user (i only have one) - i searched for everything via forums regarding this- i followed some procedures that might have fixed this- but nothing.

i will try roll back on my 4400 x2 mabye that will help.

the other thing i was seeing to try is to do a system restore.

any suggestions? - on how to get rid of this?

MAYBYE this happened when i installed it for win xp without upgrading to sp2?

im stomped on this one.
