A used "Bounce" dryer sheet should do the trick...

IMO the best filter (but probably the hardest to conseal or place) are the Scub Pads that you can get for scubing dishes and pots or pans. Usually they are those green subbers (course the may multiple other colors).
They allow a pile of air through, however they have a pile of intertwined mesh stucture. They catch dust excellently without impacting the airflow, and i mean you can get all different sizes for dirt cheap. I use a full sized pad in the front of alot of machines, it REALLY cuts down on the lint and hair buildup. And the only thing you gotta blow out is exceptionally fine dust. I used the Frontpanel of the case to place the pad in, i sapose you could SCREW the pads directly against a fan without any issues.

i tried this, imo, i found it wasn't a very good idea, sometimes they are to air tight yet OR to lose, and don't really do to good of a job.

I clean my room every couple of days, keeps the whole room dust free, and barely need to clean my computer because of it.

all depends on location and the building... i can keep a near staryle room, pretty much appear sealed, and still end up with dust in every crack.
atm, i'm in a building over 80 years old..... it has a right to be dust even if it seems clean (every night i wipe my work tables clean, white, the next morning, there is a noticeable nasty bit of dust ALL over it. )

Actually, I'm not too surprised about this... my dad keeps bees, and uses pantyhose to filter the honey.

Pantyhose works well as a filter for me too.
I also wear them when I'm fishing out at sea in the winter. (Under my denim of course). Brilliant at keeping out the cold!!! I'm being serious

I'm being serious I'd hate it if we got into trouble and had to be saved by coastgards or something and taken to hospital. The embarrasment when a nurse removes the jeans. I'd never live it down.

The best thing to do to prevent dust is a total clean out of your system then a swiffer cloth doubled up and taped on. To make it more reusable, you can use window insect screen repair stuff and staple it. Then you seal up the rest of the cracks and such with tape and you're dandy.
I can post a guide on making the filters and sealing and go into more detail if you like, but I've got one system that I haven't cleaned in a year and has been running 24/7 that long and it still looks like it was just cleaned yesterday inside

I've used the same thing for countless machines. Specifically, fly screen mesh in either PVC, fibreglass, or a mix in a 50-60% open density (best way to describe it, spacing of the holes in overall coverage). As you said, works like a charm.

Combining insect screen with the swiffers makes a durable and impenetrable dust filter so long as you've sealed the rest of the case's air leaks
![]() The screen provides durability and reusability, the swiffer provides even better dust trapping what with being designed to do that naturally! Lazier folks can use just one of the two but why not combine forces? |
