Hey everybody! I would just like to start off by saying that I'm a big fan of the website and its amazing supporting community. ROCK ON!!! \m/(-_-)\m/

I just recently brought a MSI PM8PM-V LGA 775 VIA P4M800 PRO along with a pentium4 D 3.0ghz fsb800 LGA775 processor along with one stick of DD2 667/PC5300 and I'm having all sorts of issues trying to get my machine to install windows xp pro... The motherboard supports a maximum of DD2 533/PC4200 but I hope this isn't the problem.

any advice ? opinion please ?

Shouldnt be a problem as long as your manually underclocking the RAM in the bios.
What sort of problems exactly? How far along does it get. Chuck a bit more info up and we'll see if we can help.

This sounds a bit like the problem I just recently had with a new Intel board and some DDR2 800 RAM. The board initially supported 533/667. However, in BIOS it would actually recognize that 800 RAM was installed. BUT, the system wouldn't boot with the RAM settings at AUTO.

So, I had to manually set the RAM to 667 and loosen up the timings to the defaults for that speed setting. Things went much better after that.

In your case, don't let the BIOS use AUTO to detect the RAM. Use the Manual setting to force it to the supported speeds and timings.....and cross your fingers.

Once you get the system working, be sure to check the motherboard website for an updated BIOS. It could well be that a new BIOS will fix things to work with the native speed of the RAM. That's been the case in my situation. I can now use the RAM at 800.
