So does Ultra. Those are truly useless though, NEMA says you can't draw more than 15A on a 115VAC wall socket and all houses that follow proper safety regs have 15A fuses. So you can't actually draw 2000W even IF the AC/DC conversion was 100% efficient

So, if that's the case, how far can PSU wattage go before that limit is reached? we're already at what, 1.2Kw PSUs.

Ultra has a 2000W PSU. That's impossible to run at full load on a normal household circuit.
Soon we'll need either 240V where our computers are (sort of like dryers and ovens haha). I would say 1KW is pretty much the limit after you factor in the inefficient nature of AC to DC conversion... more than that and you won't be able to run ANYTHING else on the same circuit! |

Going Insane.....

what kind of beast would USE 2000w? i mean i understand 1000w is a good idea for dual DX10 cards with quad cores but 2000w....... u can power 4 quadcore CPUs 4 R600 GPUS, 20 drives and STILL not break a sweat.
i think Ultra's 2000w is really a marketing con, u'd trip most normal breakers waaay before u fully load the PSU unless u stick it in a fuseless setup direct from the breaker panel but that goes against the electrical code and is VERY dangerous. i bet they filled it with cheap junk components and are marketing it so high to get more money Ultra products are mediocre at best

I have to agree, and so did they. They said it was a marketing ploy and they even admitted you can't run 2000W DC off of a single 15A household circuit
, its just for peace of mind sort of thing. But I do agree about most Ultra products being mediocre. |
