Enermax Galaxy HELP!!!!!!!
So yeah, I got everything put together, strapped in and I plugged in my Enermax Galaxy 1000W PSU. I flip the switch over to "on" and all I get is BEEP BEEP --------------- BEEP BEEP ---------------- BEEP BEEP. So yeah, the LED in the back went from GREEN to RED.
From the Manual (for what fits my occasion): PSU Status: Suddenly off or Unable to Power on LED: Red Light Buzzer: Tow Beeps Interval: Information: 1. Power supply abnormal, protection circuit activated*. 2. Connector terminals are short-circuited.* * When PowerGuard starts to beep under abnormal situation, you can press the red reset button near the LED light to temporarily deactivate the internal buzzer. When this happens, we suggest you turn off the system and perform the system check. If after the system check, the PowerGuard still send out the alert or the fault condition cannot be removed, please contact your ENERMAX agent, distrbutor, or ENERMAX headquarter service center. This is really pissing me off. I don't know if the PSU is DOA or not (what do y'all think)? If I had another PSU w/ 24 pin and a 8pin motherboard connector I would try that. I am at a lostt, any ideas. Please help! I don't want to push this build off any longer...

to see if the PSU is DOA, bust out a PSU tester or a volt meter. Either of the two will tell you if you have a dead PSU. You can also try the PSU in another machine and see if it posts, or does the same thing.

i'd suggest try unplugging everything from the psu and flip the switch and see if it does it again...
if it does, the psu is toast from factory.. rma it.. if not, plug only the motherboard in and then flip it on, if it beeps there, your motherboard could have a problem.. try yanking everything out of it if possible to run only in minimum..... process of elimination will be the next step.

that is true to.. but i'm suggesting in the case that there isn't a psu tester available..
Plus the way i understood it, is that the moment the main psu switch is flipped.. the psu freaks out..... a psu tester isn't going to do anything in that sense if the internal components have been tripped

The thing about the PSU tester way, would immediately rule out the PSU if the PSU is not faulty. However, if the PSU is at fault, it would still give that beeping noise when it would be just the PSU by itself. |

hmm... i'd keep a damn good eye on everything though....
at the even slight sign of a problem, i'd get ready to send that psu back....

Yep..... quickest way to test a psu if it's faulty is without it even being pluged into anything.... if it fires up without actually being turned on by jumping the right wires (ATX), theres a problem... and if jumping the wires doesn't start it up.. it's the problem to.

My suggestion isn't exactly a PSU test about rails or anything, it to see if the thing even work right at all to start off with,.
Powering up the PSU without it actually connected will determine if the psu's built in shutdown is kicking in or not (in this case, the enermax has it's own detection of something being very wrong, therefore beeping)... if there isn't anything plugged in and you manuallly start it up, and it still beeps, that definitely means the psu is most likely a dud. Test and trial and error checking is done in stages, the next stage if it's still not working after you've confirmed the psu works by itself, is to check probably the psu's rails specifically.... and so forth....

Maybe you don't have enough hardware plugged into it and it's just too powerful for you?
That may sound obtuse but with the size of those PSU's.... |

well it was sucky at first, cuz it didn't work. It was throwing an error, but good thing as if those pins weren't properly put in, it could short the board. so thx enermax!

umm....... sure if i can find someone to sell the ram to also
you should just buy your own since the first generation may have problems and this card is first gen. but i havent seen anything...... but FEAR lags at anything above medium settings but i think thats just my processor and vista's high CPU demand.

Read DH cebit 2007 article, bottom of first page.
24 SATA drives in one JBOD array. One PSU. Enermax FTW!! |

oh, lol. that's a bit of overkill no? lol
i mean, you'll need 3 other boxes, or one large custom box to make all 26 HDDs, and all other internal PC components to fit. |

Overkill? There IS such a thing with a PSU that big? ![]() LianLI has a case that'd do it nicely, it was a double wide server case. The thing had tank treads and all (well not really but you'd need them to move it full of all that stuff) |
