Just got my new HSF!!! Now i have OCing probs...

ok as you should know i have just got my new HSF, got it in safely... and marveled at the temp differences. Now first about that... my cpu was idling at about 36.5 or so degrees fahrenheit but then i realised that the thermal compound has to set so i'm not to worried.

now onto my prob... I kept trying to OC from the softmenu but everytime i would restart and go back to the BIOS it always said it was at the same speed! 1.74 GHz... and i had been changing my multiplyer since i dont really want to oc my FSB till i have my new RAM... and like i said everytime i changed my multiplyer it always still said only X13... not X14 or X15 like i put it. So then i change my FSB and it worked... any ideas on how i can change the multiplyer like i want to?

You can't change the multiplye unless you unlock your CPU.

I TOLD YOU General! You have to unlock your chip. I told you and told you again. Listen bro... As they already said.... Only T-Breds are unlocked. Go ahead and buy yourself a 2100 TBred B.... And to sourcer_2002. Unlocking the 2100 is not easy. Requires cutting of briges... Couple more steps than a 1600-2000.

I wouldn't go that far... not on those old tbred a's and paly cores. You have to connect all 5 L1 bridges on your cpu to unlock it (and 2 center L3 bridges if not already connected..?). Easier said than done. But steady hands, the right tools and good lighting and you can accomplish it Or there is another method of "blowing" the bridges one by one from your power supply. While others swear by it, I've personally never had the courage to try it...

edit - to add pic

Crash Override is an unknown quantity at this point

i have a tbred "a" and have never had to touch my L1 bridges.

In my case it was just a matter of closing the 1,3,5 L3 bridges and that took all of 5 mins.

But on the 2100 you don't have to do the last L3.... You can do the wire wrap trick on the bottom.... Or does the wire wrap substitute the L10 bridge? Hmm, can't remember.

At that time we didn't have whether it was Palamino or TBred.
