i dont think thats gonna work..... somehow she figures out stuff, like ya..... maybe ill just get an e6300 or e6350 when they hit the shelves DS3 board and 8800GTS 320mb. same 2 gigs..... but yea DDR3 is like making the idea dead.

this girl wants a system that can be expanded as much as she wants and last a long long long time. but shes going to junior college this year so that gives me some time to get it right...... she seems to like thermaltake cases ....

she dont like gaming too much but she does like multi-tasking picture editing DVD ripping and all that multimedia junk i never usually do......

anyways my current system is going to my cousin who is a major WoW fan but doesnt have the dough to get himself a comp (his big bro jacked his).... and he REALLY likes my computer's looks so yea......

and then my sister's Dell comp is going to my OTHER cousin whos using a spyware infested gateway with an AMD athlon (not 64) that runs of 256mb sdram

dude CD's i think u should skip the raptors unless u REALLY want them and go with 2x 320GB drives

a regular EVGA 8800GTX
an e6600
a cheaper (and better) EVGA 680i T1 revision
scythe SCNIF1000 INFINITY (i think thats it) cpu cooler, it has more heatpipes and is better as the weight is in the base of the cooler so the motherboard is less stressed, its also cheaper

i want the raptors, i like the acs3, e6600 is a 2nd option, i get the A1 board for much cheaper than what i listed, and imo, the scythe looks ugly.

kinda thinking of going water cooling later on though. I've always wanted to do that .

wouldnt go a lian li, they are overpriced (ive had more than a few) and they are generally quite cramped (unless you go for one of the bigger chassis they do) which is the last thing you want with a 8800 or forthcoming monster card. Id go for a thermaltake kandalf or something similar and huge so it has good airflow, and easy to work in.

not so sure about the evga stuff though, id go for someone a bit higher quality (sorry couldnt resist).

i like the Lian-Li cases. I've seen a few of them, and like i said, one of my friend owns one. My only concern though is the amount of space alotted for a gfx card.

as for the evga stuff comment.....that's a low blow allan.

the above Lian-Li case is one of a very old design Lian-Li's cases, CDs.
the small size air-duct that may come with some cases or as an option which you can buy it after, this thing will fit only on the small size case fan at the back.
and it is actually designed for stock fan-heatsink that comes with the boxed processors.
Lian-Li has made some changes to its old design of the Classical Series cases, by adding the Plus and Plus II cases to them,
a few new cooling kits are introduced in the the Plus and Plus II cases. anyway, you may want to check the new PC-A15's and PC-A16's, which i think they looks and should work better than all the old design in the classical serie cases.
and same as other suggestions before, the Lian-Li case's accessory items may interfere with your cards, so check before you buy it, make sure that the accessory items is a removable item and you won't need to use it with your setup.

hmm....you make good points. and i don't blame you. I'm concerned about the GTX card not being able to fit in that case.

I would like a case where the PSU and the HDD rack is below the MoBo tray, thus giving the MoBo area plenty of room for any length gfx card.

something like Lowfat's case .

i have that case since it was introduced years ago, i also have a newer version of it which is the PLUS ( not PLUS II) version,
the PLUS has a new and quit good blower fan added to the case. however, imo, it's not for you IF you want to use a longer size than normal power supply and your hard drives will be more than 3 drives.

old computers in my storage room, the Lian-Li cases are not empty, and are actually ready to use computers.

anyway, hope this can ensure you why i suggest what i suggest. so don't make wrong decision if you don't have to.

if you like Lian-Li and if you don't mind paying more, then check out the new PC-A10 -- http://www.lian-li.com/product/produ...index=4&type=b

it's an all-around new design case from Lian-Li, with brandnew design side fan, more space for larger/longer power supply with enough room for 5 hard drive at a seperate section away from other heat source. however, if you also want a transparent side panel on your case, then i suspect that Lian-Li is not going to have it available for this model.

PC-A10's images

otherwise, i prefer the new PC-A16 - http://www.lian-li.com/product/produ...index=4&type=a
this new model that has just been added to Lian-Li's Classical Series seems to be the most workable (and cost-effective) case in the series.

Now that's a case I would buy.

Hell.. I might even do so since it fixes every single issue I have with Antecs P180, and then some. Mind you, I don't know if that justifies paying $230 for another case at the moment.

i paid more than what they cost today 3-4 years ago on some of older Lian-Li's, and they still in good condition, no rust and less corrosion-resistant than other cases i used to use that made with other material, so i reuse all Lian-Li cases, but not the others. i also personally know the people who sell it very well, so i keep buying it from them when i need a case. i will probably have the PC-A10 (in silver, not black) too, whenver i have a chance i like to look at it, i think i like it.

panging,
the a10 appears to have a door. is that right? It was looking great up until i saw that. I want to get away from cases that have doors. At one point in time i thought they were cool and all, but not anymore. they just get in the way IMO. The A16 however, does look really attractive .
