Which AMD X2 cpu equals a P4 650?
In peoples opinion...or scientific facts, if it pleases, which least AMD X2 CPU is on par with a Pentium 4 650 (3.4Gh single core)?
I'm thinking X2 3600 or X2 3800 Windsor, based on the chart at Tom's hardware. Thanks Last edited by MartyLK; Apr 4, 2007 at 03:26 PM. |

my 2.8 northwood kept up in benchmarks with the 3600+ when it was oc'd to 3.8ghz. It was a little bit behind but not tooo tooo bad. Although the x2 amds are superior to single cores in multithreaded applications. I really don't know which one would be similar.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to do a 4600+. It seems to be a big leap over the other X2s below it and even outdoes a 4800+ in some tests according to Tom's Hardware CPU Comparo.
In most tests a 3800+ (x2) out-performed a P4 650. But some of the later, further down tests, the P4 650 was better. Those later, further down tests showed the lowest X2 CPU that out-performed a P4 650 was the 4600 Windsor. |
