PSU 2.0 on 1.3 system
It took me 3 PSU's 2.0 to figured out that my old MB isnt Compatible with the new standard 2.0.
Is there any way to make it work. Now when I'm trying to power up with my new antec earthwatts 430w, nothing happens. |

I think you can buy a 24-pin to 20-pin ATX adapter

The pictures I've seen suggest a 20+4 splittable, just DON'T try to connect that 4 anywhere else - the ATX 12v 4 pin is seperate.
ATX 2.0 has EXTRA connectors, but so long as there is an ATX12v 4 pin and a 20+4 split (or a 24 - 20 adapter), then there is no reason it should not power an older ATX.

I've used several ATX 2.0+ spec PSU's in older 1.3 and even older motherboards without a hitch...
There definitely should be no reason why it wouldn't work enless the board is dead.

I guess I'm doing something wrong cause I've tried another psu 2.0 and it didnt work. I'm pretty sure I hooked it up correctly. the 20 pins to 20 pins and the 4 pins for the cpu into the 4 pins. I called antec support and the guy said it's not compatible.
Do I need to ground the psu, meaning , actully put it in the case? |

no you should.
OK the psu is by default a 24pin psu right? There is the 20 pin connector with a short 4 pin piece that slides in beside it, correct? The 4 pin piece should be tide up out of the way and not used on anything. Also, there is i beleive for a atx 2.0 spec psu, 2 sets of 4pin 12v connectors, some psus come with them put together (to make 8 pin), one should be labeled usually 12v1 and 12v2 or similare. The 12v1 is what you'd use in the single 4pin 12v/cpu. Then it should be as easy as even just using a jump to jumpstart the motherboard connecting the PWRSW 2 jumper pins with a jumper for a split second then removing it quickly and see if the motherboard fans kick up.

It didnt work Judas. It said on the box it has two 12v but I can see only one and it's black, blue and yellow color cable( and not black and yellow as usual).
I'm now using a crappy psu that works just fine, and I hooked it up as I did with the antec. Bad psu? |

That is what the 20+4 connector is made for - backwards compatibility.
