Need Help Choosing New GFX Card
Lo,
i'm in need of a new gfx card to further bolster my FPS rates especially in games like quake 4 when i'm trying to run benches for the techouse, even when i OC my 9550 in Trixx it never delivers more than about 8fps in 3DMark. So far i've found the X1550s quite appealing in AGP... now, i'm not in need of ULTRAUBERBLOWYOURFACEOFF standard power but i would quite like to get more than 20/25 fps in 1024x768 when i try Quake 4 again... at the moment it's between the 256MB Sapphire Radeon X1550, and the 512MB Sapphire Radeon X1550, if you know about any other AGP cards that perform well and are under about £50 let's say i'll greatly appreciate and +rep/worship/ ( ) ect...at the moment i have a 9550 Last edited by Mousey; Apr 22, 2007 at 08:48 PM. |

hmm.....you're on the other side of the pond. if you were here in the states, i have my old x800xt pe i'm going to be selling soon
.soon being as soon as i get another monitor for my computer so i can use my new gfx card .but in terms of a new card....check out the x1650 card. it has 12 pixel pipelines vs. the 4 pixel pipelines that the x1550 card you're looking at has. |

From Computer exchange
http://www.cex.co.uk/search.php?ispo...rOrder=&page=2 Their best £50 AGP is a 6600, but go to £55 and a 6800 (128 MB) competes with an X1600Pro (256 MB) Feed them into http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/graphics/charts.html and see how they show, Quake 4 you say, Ok: Oh, no Quake 4. One thing to watch, the X1550 is a renumbering of the X1300, so you are talking about the LOWEST of the "genuine" ATI X1K models, as the X1050 is nor even a true X1K.

the 7600GS is comparable to a 9800 non-pro. so, it'll be a significant amout of improvement over your 9550
