Upgrading USB Ports

I have an older sony vaio desktop (pcv-rx670) and I was wondering if I could upgrade any of the usb ports to 2.0 . I know the 2 ports in the back are physically attached to the mobo, but the 2 in the front are on like a mini card attached to the mobo w/ just power cables.

I know you can buy a PCI card w/ USB connections, but I have no room for another PCI card. I also saw the hubs, but if I connect the hub to the usb 1.1 wouldnt that make all ports on the hub just 1.1 ? I was wondering if I could disconnect my front USB and replace it w/ a 2.0 usb. If I can do this what do i need to search for exactly. When I was looking around earlier all i found were hubs and pci cards.

You can't upgrade the ports to 2.0 if your computer's motherboard has only USB 1.1 controller. If you connect a hub to 1.1 controller the comunication would be 1.1 again. I'm afraid the additional controller is the only solution.

Alright I kinda figured that thanks. I guess I will have to look for a smaller cooling device for my vid card to free up the PCI slot.
