That is the problem. I cannot run the fan at 100% with clocks lower than 3d clocks. The card boots just fine to my lower 2d clocks with the fan speed of 60%. If I try to force 100% speed then the clocks automatically change to 3d clock speed.
I flashed my card back to stock bios until I read up on how to use Rivatuner to modify driver level fan duty cycle.

ATI Tray Tools will let you manage fan speeds.

I know how to manage fan speed and the rest of my system for that matter. The problems are specific to the cards like the 8800 and 6800 series that adjust and monitor clocks and fan speeds the way they do. To tell ya the truth I like ATT and have used it since the very beginning. I wanted a change because my attitude towards gaming has gotten stale.

Here is a link for what needs to be done to accomplish what I want. I want 100% fan speed on both 2d and 3d clocks after I flash the BIOS to enable lowered 2d clocks and overclock 3d clocks. I can create performance profiles and launch them manually before and after gaming but that is not what i want.

I am having allot of fun with my new rig. I am really happy with my hardware choices. I know it is not the fastest but that was not my objective. I also got a new case with the savings from the cheaper hardware. Limited edition CM stacker with window and crossflow fan and two harddrive cages. The crossflow fan really helps and more so than I thought it would. Right now I am only running a modest overclock of 3GHz at 1.25v / ram 1000MHz 4-4-4-12 with very tight extended timings. I am not overclocking my 8800 yet because at 1280x1024 there is no game I own that stresses the card at max detail. This system brought new life to gaming for me. My kill ratio in all the FPS games I play have doubled. It is weird how system responsiveness plays such a big role in shooters.

This system upgrade ended up costing me about 300 bones. All of my old hardware went for decent prices. As soon as all the funds clear I am going for another 8800 for Sli and selling my vx922 and getting a higher resolution monitor.

For anybody interested in a new BIOS "702" for this board then PM me and I will email it to you. There are only a hand full of people running it and voltages are way more stable and I was able to lower some of the advanced memory timings even further. Someone else already broke the NDA with this new BIOS so I will not lose any sleep over it.

EDIT: The auction just ended for my Asus p4c800e-d. Can you beleive it sold for 217.50+14.00 for shipping? I think I paid like 140ish for it brand new. It sold for more than the brand new HIS x1950pro agp! Crazy!

Because of the amount of cash my old hardware sold for I splurged on a second 8800gts for Sli. Got it on Ebay, new, retail, 861 100% positive seller, free shipping, 260.00. Can't beat that unless there are rebates and I wanted to wait six months for the rebate check, if ever.

This will be my first Sli setup and my last purchase for two years except for HDD's in a few months.

Plugging stuff in wrong places, and attacking it with deodorant.

Update: Looks like a good board though haven't heard a lot about Foxcon.

Update II: Just released what processor comes w/ that CM Stacker...w/o HT you'll notice having the single core. You might want to think about getting a dual core.

hmm I guess, but then I should just put the money to the rig I actually wanted.... ill just deal with it, I don't think I should ask for more than what I smashed, is the 3400+ better at single core apps than the P4 3.0GHz?

I would say in general yes, but it really depends on what you're doing. For gaming w/o a doublt it'll be faster.

well I have some store credit at fry's so ill see if I can get an X2 there but if I don't feel an extreme need to get one then ill make due with what ill have and spend it on future cooling or something other than that.

basically the case ($239) and about $120-150 for motherboard and other stuff I would need so I'm pretty much tied to minimums......

I'm trying to be cheap without sacrificing quality or upgrade potential...(no mATX) basically best bang for buck... I can probably go higher but yea not much left.... if you got any ideas for good hardware then that would be great, I need a graphics card still.... I want some kind of 7600 or equivalent but they are like $80+ also need heatsink
