hi, i am running windows xp pro and i am running a linksys BEFSR41 router. i am trying to set up serv-u and i don't know how to make the router allow the port that i have chosen for my server. and what port that serv-u uses? can someone please help me and tell me how i can set this up to allow the server to run please?

First make sure that XP firewall is off.
Then decide which port you want Serv-U to listen on. By default is port 21. Then you go into the configuration of your router and select the Port Forwarding tab. There you can specify to forward all the incoming port 21 traffic to the IP of the PC. Pretty simple.
