How many IR (InfraRed) Devices Do You Use?

And, what are they?

I'm asking because, a particular wireless keyboard/mouse combo I've been using has been giving me fits. For one thing, VERY often the cursor will simply jump all over the screen for a couple of seconds before finally settling down again. As annoying as it is when simply browsing the WEB, it's a HORRIBLE experience in games!

Example: In OBLIVION, when the cursor does this my character will spin about looking up and down and all around and, once the spinning stops, all orientation is gone. Having this happen while any enemy is pounding on my character is the pits!

So, I wrote to the company about it. After a week of waiting for a reply, they did send me a list of things that could be causing this. Among them are other IR devices anywhere within 10 Meters of their equipment. They suggest moving or turning off these other devices when I'm using this wireless combo. That's not a doable option for me.

The reason is, I DO have other things that use IR signals in my small office. The TV Remote, my Window AC/Dehumidifier, and, another computer using a different wireless combo.

AND, all of these devices are within the said 10 Meters.

So, what do you use and how do you deal with any problems that arise?

I don't.

I had problems exactly like you described with my mouse in the past, and eventualy chucked the wireless and have used a wired mouse since. when you start to look for things that might affect it you realise it's hopeless. within a couple feet of my comp I have an amp, a minidisc desk, a surround sound unit, 2 mobile phones, a TV, couple game consoles.. etc all use IR in some way, all presumably interfere with your mouse signal.

I used it once years ago to check an HP printer. Never since...

Most flourescent lighting has been taken into account when these devices are engineered, and the specific data coding for the different manufacturers generally prevents interference. I've never heard of a problem like yours Dyre...

i'm also having similar issues w/my wireless KB mouse combo (mxDuo). Once in a while, my KB will just not give any signal output or input. Thus, my keyboard does not respond. the only way to fix it is to remove the batteries for about 5min. to get another 20min. of life from the KB. after that time is up, i gotta do it all over again.

i've been looking for a new wired KB, but just about everything i've found is all wireless. i might get a G15 kb, but i'm not quite sure it's worth it.

i'm a bit hesitant of doing so only because i'll have to get a new USB KVM switch as my current one is ps/2.
