52X blank media? (CD-R)

I am wondering ... what is the best media to use with the LiteON 52X burner... Memorex media craps out at anything above 40X

Thanks for the help.

Memorex media is horrible. I use TDK 48x certified plus. It's 48x media, but it will burn at 52x.

I use Philips 48x media, which just works fine. I even have a Philips 48x burner to go with it
Before, I had Verbatim 48x ones, which were utter bull$hit

In my experience and several of my friends that have used this media it's totaly sub-par. Especialy with audio for some reason, very flaky.

I use TDK, Fuji, Imation, and Sony...Smart and Friendly is good too. All these companies offer a lifetime-warranty, now I know no one would bother to send back a CD, but Memorex don't even offer a lifetime-warranty, that says something about a company that dosen't even offer a lifetime-warranty that they no one will use.

What is so funny about people putting down Memorex, and then saying that TDK is better... is that both disks are made by the same parent company....

I have a Liton 52x cdr and I use bought a 25 pack of imation, I think it said up to 48 times on the paper that came with it that I threw away long ago- but I did a nero test on them and the drive and it said I could burn up to 58x speed. Don't know why. I record music and data cd's all the time w/ these at 52x whithout one mistake.

Which is?

The parent company means nothing...Philip Morris makes Marlboro and Parliament, are they of the same quality?

Wyre

Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and Pizza Hut are all owned by Tri-con which is in turn owned by Pepsi

McDonalds and Burger King at some level are both owned by General Electric.

Having the same parent company doesnt mean disks are of the same quality.

TDK has a very very slight almost non-existant green tint to the bottom whereas Memorex disks have a lil bit darker green tint than the TDK to the bottom which means a different dye process....im looking at cd's from both companies right now

Hmm....I've always used Fuji or Memorex myself, never had any problems with those. Plus, I can get those brands in big mega-packs for cheap without resorting to generic CDR's.

The worst CDR's that I've encountered (other than generics) are Verbatim. I actually opened a box of those and found dust and dirt right on the disk. Not exactly conducive to a quality write, now is it?

We had some PNY CDR's here once, those suckers would actually MELT the mylar (or whatever the writable stuff in it was). That was pretty freaky to look at. Naturally the disk didn't work.

What is supposed to be wrong with Memorex CDR's? Every single one that I've ever written to worked just fine in many different PC's or CD-players (copy-protections notwithstanding ). And I've written to at least 100 of them. They are the brand my brother and I have settled on for quality.

Verbatim, really? It might have been that the store you bought them from resealed the package after it was open or something.

Yup, I have seen 2 or 3 different packs of Verbatim cdr media be complete garbage. The stupid things would separate (the top layer of whatever they print on)- and even if they didn't I saw many coasters be made out of them (not on my burner- I won't use those)- I would never buy verbatim, might as well just flush my money down the toilet.

That's really odd. Come to think of it I did get many coasters from Verbatim, but I was using a 12x Sony with no buffer-underrund protection.

Odd...I don't use Verbatim all the time but I recently bought a couple spindles and so far their burning great at their certified speeds. I've never had a problem with them. The only Memorex media I will use is the black CD's. However, the media I've had the most problems with Samsung.

Me three I've also had bad experiences with Verbatim. I bought a package of 48x ones where the package was sealed and the cases of the single disks were also still sealed (I'm not that stupid to take something that isn't sealed). So I unwrapped the package and the first case, took out the disk and put it in the writer. Strangely enough, Nero wouldn't even notice that a disk was inserted So I took out the disk to take a closer look. What I found was quite strange: the outer ridge of the reflective data layer inside of the CD looked as if it had been nibbled by mice No wonder Nero wouldn't recognize it! So I put that one a way and unwrapped the second case. Looked just as nibbled. Unwrapped the third - nibbled! Unwrapped the fourth - also nibbled! Here I gave up, took the CDs and returned them to the store. The sales clerk took a look at them and told me he'd never seen something like that before (yeah right), then he put them to the reclamation goods, where there were already several other boxes with Verbatim disks! Apparently that had been no exception Well, at least I got my money back and certainly won't touch any Verbatim ones any more. I then got myself some Philips 48x ones, which work fine.

I began using Verbatim media, but switched to Imation. The Imation CD-R's are great and i like the slim casing. my 48x Imations burns at 52x fine.
