Ws Tft

I am thinking of getting a new 19 or 20 " TFT widescreen monitor.
I would appreciate your input, I have some options, I will post links.

20'' L206WTQ-SF
http://www.plaisio.gr/product.aspx?c...product=965847

SM 940BW
http://www.plaisio.gr/product.aspx?c...product=889865

IIYAMA PROLITE E1900WS-B3 19'' TFT
http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.160116

LG 20'' L204WT-SF SILVER
http://www.e-shop.gr/show_per.phtml?id=PER.168510

I am leaning towards the first LG because it clearly supports HDCP.

If I do this I will also probably sell my current 19" monitor (Samsung 930BF)

BTW, D-Sub 15pin is the old VGA, right?

Any other suggestions appreciated

EDIT: Hmm http://www.shop21.gr//product/produc...381&prid=26990
same monitor?

Whats your budget looking like? If its pretty nice budget my vote goes for the Samsung 226BW 22" widescreen HDCP compliant too.

Budget is limited. As is number of choices. Since neither UK or USA companies send monitors to Greece, I am forced to buy from here, and the above 3 sites are the major ones, plus www.multirama.gr and www.msystems.gr
Dell Greece couldn't care less (I tried to order from them few months ago and the sales persons (yes more than one) just refused to call me back. Apparently Dell Greece doesn't give a ...dime about anything other than business customers.
I would say up to 300 euros if it is a VERY good offer. Hopefuly I will sell my current monitor for something good.

Hmm, perhaps apart from the size, does it worth the extra 100 euros? Is it better at gaming and movies? I am going to have it as my main monitor (read only) connected to my PC and Xbox 360.

BTW, I found this excellent and original (for greek) site http://www.skroutz.gr/ that you put what you are looking for and shows where and how much it costs in Greece.
So, the cheapest for the Samsung is E382 while for the LG 252.

Excellent monitor for both, its actually what I have plugged into my comp (dvi) and my xbox360 plugged in as well. Looks great, maybe some others who use it will see this and shed some light. I would say yes its fully worth the extra 100euros to get, I watch movies and everything on it.

It does look like a good monitor, though after some research there are people saying to be very careful which one to get since apparently there are 2 or 3 different 226 out with different panels.

While (doing this all day) browsing forums etc for monitors, I have come across this one. Unfortunately I can't find any review, but it looks like a monitor I could fall in love with. It is more expensive, I would have to pay about 450 euros including shipping, but... just take a look!

Doesnt look like a bad monitor at all, although the reviews of the 226 and people claiming there is a difference between 'A' and 'S' panels is complete rubbish and has no backing on anysite. I too saw the same stuff when I went looking for reviews on this panel, and found that complaint of the different panel models to be quite unfounded.

Whats the refresh rate on the LG you posted? I didnt happen to see it.

From a german brochure:

Horizontaler Frequenzbereich 30-83kHz
Vertikaler Frequenzbereich 56-75 Hz
Multiscan Support 640x350 70Hz, 720x400 70, 640x480 60/75, 800x600 60/75, 832x624 75, 1024x768 60/75, 1152x870 75, 1152x900 65, 1280x1024 60/75, 1680x1050 60

I also like that it uses less than 45W when on and the full compliment of DVI, VGA, HDMI and Component. Also the Picture in Picture and some other controls look great. Problem is A) Cost, B)No reviews that I can find.

OK, this is getting fun...
I tried to push my monitor (top side) backwards a bit and it broke apart. The base of it, some grey hard plastic, perhaps aluminium, just cut in half.
Perhaps I will have to order a monitor sooner than I thought I would.
It sure makes it harder to sell this one now....fffffrrraaaaaaaak.

Well, I just ordered the LG L226WA. Expensive but I hope it is worth the money. I am still waiting for confirmation (paypal), but as soon as this is done, I should have the monitor in a couple of days.

I wonder how much different it will be from my 5:4 19" monitor.

MinionX thanks for your input.

EDIT: They called me that it is out of stock and they are waiting for new before the end of this month. So it looks like I will have to wait a couple of weeks.

Thank you. I will write a mini review when I get it.

The exact model is LG L226WA-SN and I managed to cut a further 60 euros from the price

If you haven't read my other thread http://www.hardwareheaven.com/hardware...-purchase.html
Well, week in week out I have yet to receive it so today I canceled my order and proceeded to buy an LG 245WMP-BN from a local shop. It is also LG, of course, and it is at 24", has a P-MVA panel 8ms, pivot etc etc. http://www.prad.de/en/guide/ergebnis...Submit=compare

A better monitor, though more expensive, but I think it is worth it.

A quick update in case anyone is interested in this LG monitor.
I couldn't be happier with it. It has everything I wanted, except perhaps an extra DVI connection. Has HDMI, VGA, Component (or composite, always mix those two, anyway, the better one), detachable speakers, pivot view, scaling, including aspect scaling, and 24" of widescreen goodness.
No problems so far with FPS, Strategy games, both real time and turn based, movies, text, www, etc.
No bleeding that I can see, no dead pixels that I can see, so far, nothing wrong with it.
I recommend this monitor 100%.

I don't feel comfortable taking pics (don't ask), but here is a recent review of the monitor that has some pics of it.
Now, one last thing, I have a slightly different model since mine also has a speaker set (that can be removed). Also, my monitor came with all the cables I could need, so I don't know what they are on about. Including a cable to connect a DVI graphics card to its HDMI port.

All in all the monitor is perhaps excellent.
