PCI-Express Voltage
Didn't think I'd have to resort to posting a topic about this, but I just can't find any information on the subject through google searches. I have a PCI-Express X1950 Pro 256 mb card, and I just wanted to know what I should set the PCI-Express voltage option to in the BIOS, I just feel a lot better manually configuring these things instead of letting the BIOS handle it, especially since I've noticed higher temps on my card since I switched motherboards.
Thanks everybody. |

I run a X1900XTX, but I believe somewhere in the realm of 1.5-1.9v is safe. EDIT: If none of those are present, what board are you running? |

I have an ASUS a8n-sli SE, and the ASUS utility is telling me PCI-E is at 3.33 v
God, It's like I can't even trust the manufacturer's utlity to tell me accurate information. Last edited by Pesticle; May 30, 2007 at 07:12 AM. |

The PCI Express Voltage on my ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe can be set: 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5. But, that's the voltage on the motherboard.
The voltage coming from the PSU to the video card is 12 V. I'm not sure where or why this 3.3 V is showing as an option for you. ??? |

Not an option, it's just reported in a monitoring utility, the ASUS one infact. It clearly says PCI-E

I don't think extra PCI-e voltage would heat up your card. More than anything too much would kill it, too little would make it unstable.
Motherboard manual should tell you all this, no? |

i'm pretty sure that the default voltage of the pci-e slot on all pci-e MoBos is 1.5v.
but why adjust it though? wouldn't it be like adjusting the voltage in that old AGP based system? |
