best video card for my setup

MY specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice @ 2.1GHz
DFI-nF4 DAGF Motherboard
1gb ram pc 2700
250gb Western Digital SATA 16mb cache
600Watt Rosewill
NEC DVD Burner
ATi Radeon x600se

Im lookin to buy a card around $100 that will last me at least 1 or 2 years. Been thinking about the 8600gt, but there might be better options. what do you think?

For that price there is nothing better than the 8600GT, just make sure you get the DDR3 one (should be about $125) rather than the DDR2 one.

yeah i agree i put that same card in a similar system as yours for my brother and it truly is an amazing card for the money.

I just plan on playing counter-strike: source for now.

I'm not really interested in the high end games for now.

the next two years? no.

sure, all you're playing now is CS:S, but that will likely change. especially over a period of two years.

for the record, your entire rig may not even last you two years.... stuff is just getting too heavy. if you are playing CS:S then that's WAY more than enough.

Either the 8600GT or HD2600XT would be a good buy... I'd personally opt for the 8600GT but traditionally ATI cards have been the better performers in HL2/Source engine based games.
