I take it that is a vote in favor of that monitor? It is on sale at FutureShop for $999.00 CDN, anything comparable in that price range?

alot of the early 8800 cards had an issue w/apple displays. the issue was that you couldn't see anything, but you could hear everything. plug in another monitor, and it worked just fine.
if you're going the apple monitor route, you might want to double check if that's been fixed. |

It has been fixed. I remember seeing a fix for it, though not where.
Enjoy your new hardware! As for the Samsun monitor, what panel does it use? I can't suggest any other monitor at 27", but my new 24" is freaking cool. LG L245WPM-BN. I highly recommend it.

I grabbed the Samsung. The panel is made by Samsung according to the letter "S" by the model number on the back of the monitor. Or so it says in the review on this site: http://www.overclockersonline.net/in...um=1061&pnum=3 Mine has the same letter "S" on it.

6ms isn't high. I bet 90% of people couldn't even notice 'ghosting' on a 16ms panel or even a 25ms panel. Response time really means nothing. I have a 5ms screen now, and notice no different from my old 25ms panel.

back when i used to work at the shop, i would compare some of the older 25ms monitors to the newer 15/16ms monitors of the time, and the newer monitors of the time would look much clearer when gaming. of course, at the time, the CRTs were still the best. |

The View Sonic monitor had the 25ms response time and when looking around (we had UT2K4 installed on both machines) i could definately see the ghosting effect on that monitor. On the Samsung monitor, 16ms response time, i could still see the ghosting, but it wasn't anywhere nearly as bad. Then the "el cheapo" store brand 17in. CRT looked clear as day. no ghosting what-so-ever. mind you, this was back in the day....coming up on 2yrs. since then. LCDs now have improved so much, i would actually compare them to a CRT .

While lowfat may not notice a difference between a 6ms and 25ms (depending on how they measured the responce time as different companies seem to spit up different responce time results, usually trying to outpromote the other, sometimes a 6ms responce is in actuality closer to say 12ms for the full test not thier cheaper ripoff method)
Swimtech would be probably better suited to explain that stuff. However, Different people are more prone to SEEING things like this, i can definitely tell the difference between a 4ms and 8ms screen, course it really depends on the movements or suden changes that are taking affect. My dell 3007wfp with a 14ms responce, i can REALLY notice ghosting.... but i usually ignore it because it's not a huge amount of ghosting let alone anything to be really concerned about (it's not like i get a blurry messed up ugly looking image, but there is definitely a noticeable delay occasionally)

Any suggestions for which software to use to overclock this card?
E6600 @ 3.7GHZ, no overclock on the card:

My shuttle monitor is the older version (@ 16ms) and i can't notice a thing. My general rule when looking at monitors (from personal experience) is if its under 20ms then I can't tell and therefore I don't care. But I like my shuttle. As for the monitor in question...nice purchase.
