GFX card.....cheep

I baught my kids a computer and it has onboard GFX{baught it cheeper than I could build it}....256mb borrowed form the DDR2.But on the positive said has an AMD 4400 X2 CPU.Its not much for gaming as it sits now.I installed Call of Duty2 on it and it was quite choppy.Someone give me a good idea of a bargan basement GFX card I can install that will halfway run games.I'm looking at an XFX nVidia 8500 GT{$79.00,ZipZoomFly}.Think it will work OK? ...much thanks!

X16xx's do a pretty good job

8500's. (so I'm hearing) are doing well. But don't expect them to run DX10 games even remotely well. The reviews I've seen say great DX9 card but terrible with DX10 games. So yeah it will do what you want it to do.
I say yes. Unless you happen to want an ATi X700 I have collecting dust on a shelf. lol just kidding.

spend a little more money. get them an 8600GT card. that, or if you still have one, put in one of your old gx2 cards you're trying to get rid of

. it'll save you some money, and it will get them WAY better performance than whatever card you're tryng to buy them
