Upgrades question

Hey,
I'm upgrading my notebook to 2GB's of RAM from 1GB to gain gaming performance.

BUT I have a question. I have a 4200 RPM drive right now, but am thinking of getting a 5400RPM drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=WD800VERTL

With this speed increase do you think it's worth it only being about 1200RPM's faster?

I know you'll say get a 7200 but I can't since I'm going to be shopping at walmart.com due to financial credit card reasons . Anywho... Please advise if the hard drive is worth the upgrade.

BTW my current drive is the Toshiba MK 1031GAS which seems to actually performe as well as alot of 5400's out there...

I'm going to be upgrading to a new laptop the beggining of next year... I game a lot MMO's and such.. Am I wasting my money?

About the only improvement that you will see with the faster HDD would be in load times. You would also see some if you are using the Pagefile a lot, but with the extra RAM, you arent going to be using the Pagefile as much as you are now.

Since you are going to be upgrading to another system soon anyway, my thinking is that you would be wasting your $$ on a faster HDD, but the extra RAM is money well spent.

That's what I was thinking. I have the page file min at 1.5x the RAM. And the Max at 3500. When I get the new RAM installed, the Min would be 3072 with a max of around 5000 right?

Yeah not very helpful with my question though. But still a good read.

I just cant see setting almost 9GB of harddrive space max for 2GB of memory.. I was thinking of the max being around 5GB.. Any thoughts guys?

I can't remember what I used to have my desktop set at, and that also had 2GB of memory..
