*NewEgg* GSkill Memory
I had ordered and recieved GSkill RAM for my laptop. It worked great for about 4 days. I finally turned on the laptop today and I got bombarded with blue screen memory dump errors.
So I pop out the new memory put in the old, all is fine, so I decide to give the other memory a go, and the same thing lots of errors. Does this happen often? I figured if it worked great when I put it in, I wouldnt get errors, especially in just over a few days. I don't get how the memory could work great, then a few days later crap the bed... Anyhow I just RMA'ed it back to Newegg using 1 day shipping. I had already paid them 1 day shipping, so I'll get it early next week. Now I'm stuck with 1GB again *sigh*. Funny thing is, when I got it the box seal was slit open, and I hadn't noticed til I pulled one of the sticks out, but the label looked like someone had pulled it off, where it ripped in half and was just put on there.. WTF is that? I made sure to note it in the RMA, I better not get screwed for somthing I did not do. I called them, and they made a note of it, and said there will most likely be no problems, since the entire lable is there, ripped or not. This is the first bit of trouble. I should have not even installed the RAM, and should have sent it back, but me wanting the upgrade so badly just went ahead and used it. Does RAM really go bad like that? This perplexed me. |

may be you were not lucky and that the RAM was doa, and it could be due to how the RAM has been handled by you or before you.
i also find some people don't have problem buying new computer parts and some do, some are lucky, some aren't. |

sounds like you were un-lucky there w/your RAM. for the company i work for, i get calls like this all the time. people saying, "i just bought your product, and it worked fine for a day and then it just died"
so, you're not the only one it happens to. and we have a wide variety of products. |

yup. i also forgot to say, i don't know about G.Skill though, but i'm sure it's similar, that for the amount of products we sell only a small percentage of people call back saying that their new product is DOA.

Honestly what shocked the hell out of me was the fact the seal of the RAM was broken, and on one of the RAM sticks the warrenty sticker was ripped in half... This was from Newegg! I put a note of it in the RMA, and phoned them. I better not get any trouble about that.

but since you get the RAM from online store... unless the online store have never seen this product physically, but if they have actually seen it the way you describe and they think the RAM was good, and that it will work at your end, and you probably won't care about the warrenty sticker that was ripped, then this is not good. |
