Clicking Noise!?

So here is the issue. When i use my microphone(s) to talk to anyone using an chat client(s) the people on the other end hear a clicking noise from my MIC. The people on the other end have discribed it as a low toned helicopter and say its very annoying.

I have tried, 3 different mics, updated my sound card drivers, chipset drivers. Updated the firmware on my router and updated my usb drivers. Even did this with my old E4300 and my GA-956p-S3. So its done this on 2 different systems. Ive replaced the router so my thougs would be something interfering with the cable modem?

Here are my system specs, i know this is a weird problem so any advise at all would be great. Also it happens with MSN messeger, yahoo calling, Xfire and VENT.

Q6600
MSI-P35 NEo 2
WD 250GB Sata 2
4gb ADATA DDR2 800
XFX 8800 GTS XXX Edition
Logitech 5.1 THX Surround sound
Webstar Cable modem
D-link WBR-1310 had NetGear WGR614 V6
Logitech USB 350 Headset

I have also even tried 2 other mics off the motherboars mic connector with the same result

Do you have the microphone Boost checked or unchecked?

Do you have any environmental sounds active?

What sort of frequency? It could be electrical interference of some kind...

You are getting interference from something.
Move your equipment around.
I have never heard of Webstar and usually unknown brands are my first suspect in issues like this. Something is not grounded or shielded properly. Do you have a good power supply? Is there another system available for you to check the problem and see if it is the modem? Make sure all your power connections inside your system have all the pins pushed into the hardware.

One other thing to check. Open up your windows VOLUME CONTROL, and make sure that the mic is MUTED in the PLAYBACK CONTROL screen. If it isn't, it will sometines do something like that and/or you will hear yourself in your speakers/headphones when you are talking.

What's your soundcard?

IF you have AUX 1 or 2 in the sound control panel, mute them.

I had this problem on Vista x64 Ultimate as well..... my Plantronics GameCom Pro1 headset which is USB only with DSP clicked and clicked like a midi helicopter sound to people over ventrilo, I had 2 sets of this specific headset and it did same on either with USB.

It did the same with my Sennheiser PC166 headset when using the USB jack, but if I switched to analog jack with Auzen Prelude it went away all together. If your using all USB headsets it has something to do with the fact of the new sound API for Vista and how it implements sound through software now, instead of using USB DSP it handles it weird and overcompensates or something, and the USB sound devices not working correctly for Vista despite what M$ says.

If all 3 of your headsets are USB, it is 100% the reason why they are not working.
