Looking For Replacement Desktop LCD Stand
I picked up an NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2 LCD for my new rig. Definitely happy with the monitor, the only problem is: the stock stand isn't adjustable. This is a bit of an issue as i'm a relatively tall guy so placed on a desk, i'm stuck either slouching (extremely, not the standard gamer's slouch (; ) or stuck looking at a downward angle at the screen.
The most popular replacement stand is the Ergotron Neo-Flex which is stated to support a monitor up to 16 lbs. Awesome, because this NEC is 15.7 lbs. Just barely, but apparently I was wrong. After emailing Ergotron, they tell me that because of the depth of the monitor (3.3" instead of a standard 2"), the stand I would need would have to support at least 20lbs. Not so cool. The Neo-Flex runs around 40 bucks. And any other stand i've found that supports at least 20lbs runs 175 bucks or more. Does anyone know of one that would work that isn't going to cost me more than half what the monitor cost me?

I'm not a tall guy at all, but, I still like my monitors raised off the surface of my desk by about 4 inches. So, I've built a raised platform using some 1/4 inch perforated board (peg board) and it gives me a little space beneath my two CRT monitors to slide wires/cables and other small things out of the way. I can even slide my keyboard beneath it to give me writing space when needed. The whole platform is about 18 inches deep by 36 inches wide. I've been using it for years now.
Cost: Less than $15 US. |

Could always but the stand rated for 16lbs, and mod it for 20lbs

yeah thats probably the best way to go about it....I have a raised platform for my Shuttle because it sits on my desk with no adjustment....so i built a platform similar but much thinner (I assume) than Dyre's
