I'm stumped
Ok, my friend has an HP desktop that has been running fine. He accidently hit the surface it was on a lil too hard and this caused the comp to give a very screwed up picture on the monitor and now whenever we reboot it the monitor gives the no signal message and his computer repeatedly makes a rapid beeping at regular intervals. Something similar happened to my pc, but I was able to unplug it for about an hour and it worked fine afterwards, did the same thing here to no avail. I have tried running it with just the power cord plugged in but still the same problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Some more information regarding the computer would help dianose the problem.
Have you tried reseating the video card and checking all the cables to make sure something didn't come unplugged? Thanks where I would start. If that doesn't do it, I'd try a different monitor to see if the problem lies there.

likely a connection was jimmied loose from the sudden movement...
i'd recheck ALL the cables within the computer itself to make sure things are secure...

Well I dunno if it's cause we just let it sit for awhile or because the 4-pin power connector on the mobo was a bit loose, but after pushing it the tiniest bit I got it up and running again w/o any problems. The same thing happened to my pc once when I got lil ticked at CS:S and punched my desk, but after bout 45 minutes it came back on w/o me having to mess with anything, any idea what the deal with that is? Thanks for all the advice

MAKE SURE you have every single connection is tight next time, i had many people ask me to work on their computers only to find that when they tried modifying or upgrading, they loosened something and that was the reason why they had so much trouble.
so make it a habit to check all connections with cables and such and unplug and reattach them. good you found the 4 pin power connector. it may have been the one that was powering your card and being loose made it unstable.
